The Hilliard Society is one of the foremost miniature art societies in the UK, bringing together miniature art collectors and artists from around the world, and dedicated to encouraging greater appreciation of this specialised art form.
On our website miniature artists can find information on materials, suppliers, exhibitions, books and how to join the Society.
The Hilliard Society of Miniaturists was founded by miniature artist Rosalind Pierson and Sue Burton, gallery owner. The inaugural exhibition was held in May 1982 in Wells, Somerset and in 2012 the Society celebrated it's 30th Anniversary.
The name was chosen being appropriate to the South West as Nicholas Hilliard was born in Exeter, Devon and became portrait miniaturist to the court of Queen Elizabeth I.
