Wells is fortunate enough to be able to offer many al fresco dining experiences, allowing you to sample the continental atmosphere on offer in the Market Square… there is nothing better than sitting outside with a sticky treat or a heart-warming meal amidst the bustling streets with the backdrop of the Cathedral. Blessed to be based in the heart of Somerset, we are surrounded by some of the finest food producers in the country, and Wells Market Square is home to a local market every Saturday and Wednesday throughout the year. This means that in most of the places you choose to dine in Wells, you will find that the ingredients and food served will have been locally sourced, ensuring quality and freshness.
Our two main attractions, Wells Cathedral and The Bishop’s Palace, both have cafs serving hot and cold snacks and drinks too.
Each October, Wells holds a Food Festival, known across the region for showcasing the best of local food and drink, promoting sustainability and quality. It has been featured in publications such as Food Lover Magazine and was listed in Olive Magazine in 2016 as one of the best food festivals.
