WELLS FOOD FESTIVAL - Sunday 10 October, 10.30am-4.30pm. Free Entry.
The free, family friendly festival is returning to the medieval heart of Wells. With headline sponsor, Charlie Bigham’s, the festival is set to be a jam-packed celebration of Somerset’s rich farming and food heritage. In the Artisan Market, a record-breaking 200 producers and street food sellers will be selling their creative, culinary delights in the Market Place, along the Moat and into the Recreation Ground. Gastronomic treats await with everything from dim sum to traditional Somerset cheddar, washed down with locally distilled gin and award-winning cider.
Feature areas for 2021 include a Celebration of English Wine with three wine tasting sessions hosted by Ben Franks of Novel Wine. The themes are Bacchus wine from different regions; a wine and canapé pairing; English fizz. The tasting sessions are £12 each (£15 for the wine & canapé) and can be booked beforehand online. There are also five interactive cookery workshops for children, run by Simon Gray from Fun Kitchen. These are free to join in on the day and will provide a fun and informative look at seasonal ingredients.
