Festival of the Moon at Wells Cathedral
Tuesday 12th October - Wednesday 3rd November
The Cathedral is thrilled to be hosting Luke Jerram's touring artwork Museum of the Moon this autumn. At the approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface. The installation is a fusion of lunar imagery, moonlight and surround sound composition created by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award winning composer Dan Jones.
The Museum of the Moon will be presented in Wells Cathedral from 12 October – 3 November 2021 and open to the public daily throughout this period. This breath-taking recreation of Earth's most beautiful satellite will be be suspended from the the roof of the Nave, to be taken in by visitors and worshippers alike. A constellation of events, or Festival of the Moon is planned to take place around the installation with something for everyone; comedy, theatre and film, classical, jazz, rock, pop and sacred music, and much, much more!
