The origins of Burcott Mill date back over 1000 years to a recording in the Domesday Book (1086).
Burcott Mill is a tradional water-powered flour mill, one of only 50 still operating in the UK today. Built in 1863, this mill is still producing high quality organic flour using tradional methods and machinery that where employed 150 years ago.
During the tour, the miller demonstrates how the Victorian machinery grinds the organic grain into flour, and describes both how the flour is produced and the heritage of this mill, going back to Domesday times. The mill is in operation for the entire duration of the tour (during which it will produce about 40Kg of flour) and the tour concludes with a tasting of the bread made from the flour.
